Illustrations and Era's

The New Hat
I've used a grid per say...meaning, kind of mapping it out. Yes, I understand the hands being proportionate to the body...and, I actually can draw hands well....it is painting them which throws me. I love doing faces, and hair, and clothing, and even feet....but "painting" hands is where I am practicing and needing practice.

Faces...hmmm...that is where it is fun. I also like some whimsy in my pieces....
.

After thinking about this....as we have been talking about our art...I think I would best describe myself as a mixed media illustrator. However, because I do other types of artwork too, such as paintings and intricate lace, I guess illustrator would not be my only title.

I love creating mixed media illustrations especially faces...and portraying different eras and cultures....with an array of textiles and fashions...the first one above being from the late 20's-early 30's.

I also enjoy drawing children...they are so fun!!

Power Of  A Teddy

Art is so much fun...very theraputic...but I also thought that maybe at least some of my art would be sold, some place. It is fun to do, like I said, but it is disheartening when it seems like all the work  put into showing it....does no good. I am blessed when people say they like it. However, if that is as far as it goes...then, well, that is as far as it goes. sigh

"I would say"…make your dreams possible :)

Many "wana be" artist would say that they want to be like Leonardo Da Vinci, Pablo Picasso or Michelangelo, … I would say, I want to paint like Ms. Kimberleigh Goben  and draw like Ms. Jenny Johnstone. Their artworks looks so real, full of life and yet they are just a product of their imagination.

"Upwards" by Jenny Johnstone
"Dreaming" by Kimberleigh Goben

I believe that great artists like Picasso achieved something that is so far beyond my reach…they are "Monumental".  Their works and their name will always be a part of the world's Art History. That will never happen for someone like me. A self taught artist who lives in a 3rd world country…I have to face it…I will always be a dreamer if I would expect something like that to happen in my life. I chose to have a vision that is something I can possibly attain. Thus, I want to make someone who still lives to be my "Icon"…someone I can talk to…someone I can see "grow more on their chosen fields" just like me…someone who's works make my eyes glitter with happiness and just say to myself "I want to do that" then afterwards say "I can do that" - someday :)

In general, many people would say that they want a lot of money, a model car, a mansion…all these grand material things. I would say…of course, I want the same things too…but the simpler versions. I want enough money to live, a car that has enough horse power to take me and my mom shopping and a house that I designed myself.

My Dream House

Is it obvious that once in my life, I wanted to be an Architect? It's the only course that I can think of that can balance what I want and what my parents wants. I've always dreamed of taking up Fine Arts…they want me to take up Engineering. I ended up being a Chemical Engineer…how balanced is that huh?…

Well, I am still not the person who I dream to be…but it is possible that I will be :) - Ann Supan
